BASEBALL
¥ Registration for the 2004 season at Carter County American
Little League will be held Feb. 14 at the Carter County American
Little League Field. Registration is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Children ages 9 to 14 who live within the Carter County American
Little League boundaries are eligible to enroll to play Little
League and Junior League. Registration is required even if
the child played previously. At least one parent or legal
guardian must be present, with three proofs of residence,
and an original or state-certified copy of the childÕs birth
certificate. The documents will be inspected and returned
at registration. For more information, including a description

¥ Elizabethton National Little League boys and girls registration
for the 2004 baseball and softball season will be held Saturday,
Feb. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and today, Feb. 8 and Feb.
15, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the ENLL office. Registration
is required even if the child played previously. Children
must be a minimum of nine years old to play. At least one
parent or legal guardian must be present, with three proofs
of residence, and an original or state-certified copy of the
childÕs birth certificate. The documents will be inspected

¥ The Storm Baseball Club is looking for 13 and under teams
that will be willing to play double headers during this spring.

¥ Amateur Youth Sports announces the following baseball tournaments
for the following age divisions: 12 & under, 13 & under, 14
& under, 15 & under, 16 & under, high school, 18 & under,
19 & under. The Dizzy Dean Classic will be held June 4-6,
The Southern Classic will be held June 18-20 and the Amateur
Youth World Series will be held July 16-20. The entry fee
for each of these is $280 plus one dozen baseballs with a

¥ Boone Trail Baptist Church will be having 2 baseball camps
open to everyone. It will be held March 8th, 9th, 11th, and
12th for 9-12 year olds and March 15th, 16th, 18th, and 19th
for 5-8 year olds. It will be indoors, where we will have
a batting cage and machine and indoor mounds for pitching.
We will have many area coaches helping with this camp. Cost
is $20 per player. Call 282-1341 to reserve your player's
spot.
¥ The Knoxville Yard Dogs 12u competitive baseball team will
be having a baseball tournament in Pigeon Forge, TN, on April
30 - May 2. The tournament will be for teams that will be
12 and up for 2004. Sixteen of the top teams in the southeast
will participate, and each team will play at least four games.

BASKETBALL
¥ A MAYB basketball tournament for 3-12 grade boys and girls
will be held on April 3-4 in Paris, Tn. Registration deadline
is March 19. There will be a three game guarantee. For more

¥ Registration is underway for teams that would like to participate
in the new Spring 2004 three-on-three half-court basketball
leagues. The leagues will consist of open and 33 and older.

is March 11 at 3 p.m. There will be a coachÕs meeting March
4 at 6:30 p.m. for 33 and older, and at 7:15 p.m. for open

¥ The Fourth Annual Twisters Spring Classic will be held April
2-4 at four gyms in Elizabethton. Entries will be boys and
girls, age divisions from 9-under through 16-under. Entry

¥ Amateur Youth Sports National Basketball tournaments for
boys and girls, ages 9 & under and 11 & under will be held

¥ The Shooting Stars 7th Annual Spring Invitational will be
held on March 26-28. Boys and girls ages 9-under through 17-under
may participate. Entry fee is $100, and there will be a three-game

¥ North American Youth Sports announced that they will hold
their annual spring youth basketball tournament in the Knoxville,
Tennessee area at Seymour High School on April 23-35, 2004.
This tournament will feature ten different brackets. They
include 5th-6th grade boys; 5th-6th grade girls; 7th grade
boys; 7th grade girls; 8th grade boys; 8th grade girls; 9th-10th
grade boys; 9th-10th grade girls; 11th-12th grade boys; and
11th-12th grade girls. All grades are based on the grade in
which a student is currently enrolled. The entry fee for this
tournament is $95 and guarantees each team a minimun of two
games. There will be awards presented in each bracket. The
entry deadline is April 2, 2004. For additional information

MISCELLANEOUS
¥ Muscle, a book that covers the career of legendary minor
league baseball player Muscle Shoals, is currently available.
The book, which includes some stories concerning Elizabethton
in the old Appy League, is $19.95 (that includes shipping)

¥ Lap sponsorships for the upcoming Food City 500 at Bristol
Motor Speedway now are on sale. A track tour and personalized
souvenir program highlight the lap sponsorship package. The
track tour takes lap sponsors down to the concrete racing
surface for an up close and personal look at "The World's
Fastest Half-Mile." Fans actually get the chance to walk on
the track and see the race day preparations from a different
perspective, with plenty of once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunities.
The cost of each lap sponsorship is $100 and includes a track
tour for one, a personalized Official Food City 500 Souvenir
Program, the 20-word-or-less message and a 1:64 scale die-cast
event car. One additional track tour accompanying a lap sponsorship
may be purchased for an additional $50. The Speedway will
take orders for lap sponsorships through Friday, Feb. 27,
2004. For details on purchasing a lap sponsorship and to receive
a lap sponsorship application form, fans must call Sheila

download and complete the lap sponsorship form and mail it
in along with payment to the Speedway. Fans may request a

SOFTBALL

VOLLEYBALL
¥ The Elizabethton High School volleyball team is forming
a volleyball league for girls in grades 6, 7 and 8. The league
will begin on Feb. 17 and last 6-8 weeks. Cost is $40. For

WRESTLING
¥ Liberty Championship Wrestling is proud to present the Third
Annual MARCH OF DIMES benefit show on Saturday, March 6, in
Brooks Gym, which is on the campus of East Tennessee State
University in Johnson City. Belltime will be 8 p.m., and doors
will open at 7 p.m. Tickets at the door will range from $7-$10.

vs. - 1/2 of America's Most Wanted, Chris Harris. This match
