'Horns lose to Council in Bank & Trust final

   The Johnson County Longhorns fell 53-37 to Council, Va. in the championship game of the Bank & Trust Tipoff Saturday night at John Battle (Va.) High School.
   Johnson County trailed Council 24-20 at the end of the first half.
   Judd Shoun led the Longhorn scoring wih 12 points, aided by eight from Michael Lipford. Justin Willis dominated for Council, putting away 18 points, followed closely by teammate Lee Graham with 17.
   The Longhorns (2-1) stayed in the game until a four-minute stretch that started late in the third quarter and carried over into the fourth, during which Council went on a 19-2 scoring run.

   A highly balanced offense, led by Jon Stout's 10 points, coupled with loads of solid defense, propelled the 'Horns into the championship contest.
   Trailing 10-9 after the first quarter, Johnson Count responded by outscoring Holton 13-1 in the second quarter, then 15-8 in the third.
   Frank Icenhour chipped in eight points for the winners.
