Locals compete for Grindstaff tournament title

     Carter County prep basketball squads Cloudland, Happy Valley, Unaka and Hampton - along with University High, North Greene, Unicoi County and Whiteburg, Ky. - will compete for the Grindstaff / Carter County Basketball tournament title beginning tonight.
     The Rangers will take on Unicoi County in the opener, tipping off at 4 p.m. at White / VanHuss gym.
     At 6 p.m. Happy Valley will suit up for a game with the Junior Buccaneers in what looks like an evenly matched contest.
     In the 7:30 contest it will be the Cloudland Highlanders squaring off against Whiteburg, Ky. and in the nights' closing contest it will be the homestanding Bulldogs versus the Huskies of North Greene.
     Action will continue through Saturday when the championship game will be played at 9 p.m.
