from staff reports

FREEPORT, BAHAMAS--Unaka defeated Eight-Mile Rock of the Bahamas 42-30 on Saturday to finish in fifth place in the Basil Neymore Coca-Cola Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament.
Rusty Chambers led the way for the Rangers (2-5), scoring 20 points, while Josh Jones added eight points and Cody Collins chipped in seven in the winning cause.
Unaka led 35-30 going into the final quarter, but 8-Mile wasn't able to handle the press defense in the last eight minutes, leading to the double-digit Ranger win.
8-Mile got double figure efforts from Paul Rigby with 13 points and Tristan Newbold with 12 in the loss.
Earlier in the tournament, the Rangers dropped a couple of 42-30 contests. Six-foot ten-inch center Trevor Forbes scored 10 points for winning St. George High School, a feat matched by team mates A.J. Rowley and Lloyd Burrows.
On the other side, Chambers was Unaka's leading scorer with 16, while Chris Arnold had four for the Rangers.
In the other loss by the same score, the Rangers fell to Tennessee High of Bristol.
Unaka was tied with the Vikings 17-17 at the half before going ice cold in the third quarter, as they were outscored 18-2. Bristol's own big man, 6-9 Drew Porter, led the Tennessee High attack with 10 points.
Once again, Chambers was the game's leading scorer, this time pumping in 12. Derek Cline added five and Tyler McCann four for the Rangers in their first overseas trip.
