Warriors clip Tigers in overtime thriller

BLOUNTVILLE -- One team had to win and one team
has to lose, but Hunter and Happy Valley definitely earned their
stripes Tuesday afternoon in the Tiger Invitational.
With plenty of growl to their game, the Tigers
and Junior Warriors played an overtime classic as Happy Valley
squeaked out a 70-69 victory.
This contest was nip and tuck all the way with
Hunter holding a 12-8 lead at the end of the first quarter,
then HV battling back to knot the score at halftime, 23-23.
The third quarter offered plenty of offensive explosion
as the Tigers and Junior Warriors tallied 23 points apiece.
At the end of regulation, the scoreboard read 60-60.
Ryan May and Todd Caldwell were the big guns for
Happy Valley, pumping in 23 and 18 points, respectively, while
Chris Bennett, 8 points; Ricky Morgan, 7, chipped in a combined
15 points.
Tops for the Hunter outfit was Charles Peters with
29 points and 17 boards. Josh Lowe followed with a solid output
of 13 points, Josh Church and Paul Waters each pitched in 10
points and Al Hartman added seven.
