from staff reports
Vince Redd scored 22 points to lead the Elizabethton
Cyclones to a 70-45 win over Abingdon in the opening round of

the Falcons. Defensively, Walter Brown and Lester Bailey each
had three steals to complement Redd's nine rebounds and three
blocked shots.
The Cyclones took control of the game in the closing

the second quarter. By halftime, they were ahead by the score
of 37-18.
With the win, Elizabethton improved to 4-1 on the
season.
They advance to the semifinal round of the tournament,
where they will face Knox Bearden, 83-37 winners over Chilhowie,
at 7 tonight.
