Happy Valley girls win JV game vs. TAD

In junior varsity middle school basketball action from Thursday, Happy Valley converted nine of 11 free throws in the fourth quarter, after making only one of nine up to that point, in a 28-20 homestanding victory over T.A. Dugger.
In a game marked by tremendous hustle and defensive effort by both squads, players fought on the floor for loose balls resulting in tie-ups and changes of possession seven times in the first quarter alone.
The Lady Jr. Cyclones led at the end of the first period 6-5 after starting out at the bottom of a 5-0 deficit.
Happy Valley held the upper hand at the half, 11-9, and 19-12 after three periods of play.
The Cyclones made a run in the final quarter, but their efforts fell short, 28-20, in a fast-paced, physical game of basketball.
April Davis led the scrappy Jr. Cyclones with seven points.
Cara Bowling led the Lady Jr Warriors with nine points, with teammate Randa Blankenship adding eight in the winning effort. Post player Brittany Henson played a terrific game, leading Happy Valley defensive efforts with a number of timely steals and double figure recounding.
