Milligan tumbles Berea
from staff reports
Milligan's home opener in men's basketball turned
out to be a pleasant one.
Led by junior guard Eric Coggins, who went 7
of 11 from three-point land and finished with 23 points, the
Buffaloes went on to beat the Berea Mountaineers 84-78 on
Saturday night at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
Also aiding the Buffs cause were senior guard
Michael Morrell with 20 points, senior forward Jonathon Harris
with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and freshman forward Bradley
Blair with 11 points.
Berea was paced by forward Charles Marshall,
who amassed 30 points on the evening.
Milligan opened up a 40-24 halftime lead, only
to see Berea close the gap during the second half. However,
the Mountaineers could not overcome the deficit.
The Buffs outshot Berea behind the three-point
line, as Milligan was 12 of 22 (55 percent) while the Mountaineers
were 5 of 15 (33 percent).
Milligan will open its Appalachian Athletic Conference
season against Virginia Intermont Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
