Lady Buffs top Montreat

   The Milligan College women's soccer team struck twice in the first half en route to a 2-1 victory over Montreat College in the opening round of the AAC Tournament.
   In the 16th minute, Katie Lindemann got Milligan on the scoreboard first with a goal and an assist from Bianca Spoto.
   Less than a minute later, Spoto scored a goal of her own, with the assist coming from Lindemann.
   The Lady Cavaliers tried to come back with a goal from Kathryn Threadgill in the 38th minute, but it was all Montreat could muster up.
   Andrea Breece had six saves for the Buffaloes. Milligan had 15 shots on goal compared to the Lady Cavs' 11.
   Milligan head Coach David Dixon stated: "Katie (Lindemann) earned her start today and scored a big goal for us. Once again, Bianca (Spoto) stepped up with a world-class goal."
   The Lady Buffaloes improved to 9-7 on the year and will move on to the second round of the AAC Tournament. Milligan will now play No. 2 seed Virginia Intermont at Union College (Kent.) The day and time is still to be announced.
