KINGSPORT -- It was a close game at halftime,
then with three quick strokes, Brittany Wells sent Cedar View
Christian on its way to victory.
Wells nailed back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers
to start the third quarter, and the Lady Seahawks went on
to register a 67-35 victory over University School in girls
high school basketball on Monday night.
The score was 16-14, in favor of Cedar View (2-1),
at the half, but the Lady Seahawks outscored the Lady Bucs
15-5 in the third quarter to take control.
Wells was tops in the scoring department for
Cedar View with 23 points, while Hannah Ayers handed the boards
by grabbing 14 rebounds.
University (1-1) was paced by Kate Crowe with
11 points.

Darryl Collins connected for 12 points and teammate
Matt Tillman pitched in 10 as the Bucs upped their record
to 2-0.
Cedar View (1-2) played University to a tight
first quarter -- the Seahawks trailed 11-8 -- but the Bucs
gradually pulled away over the final three stanzas.
Jeremy Dorton turned in a strong performance
for the Seahawks, collecting 18 points and 14 boards.

BLOUNTVILLE -- With John LeSueur and Zach Frye
doing the heavist damage, the Cougars built up a fat first-half
lead that survived a furious Knox Catholic rally in the fourth
quarter.
LeSueur tossed in 11 of his team-high 17 points
in the first quarter, then Frye scored eight of his nine points
in the second as Sullivan Central established a 49-30 halftime
advantage.
It was 63-43 Cougars at the end of the third,
but Central had to hang on at the end with the Irish outscoring
the home team 28-13 in the final period.
Matt Dunford contributed 16 points to the Cougar
cause. Charlie Davis, with 18 points, and Drew Franklin, with
16 points and three 3-pointers, showed the way for Catholic,
which got 12 points from Brett Connor and 11 from Matt Parton.
