Hunter repels Little Milligan
on Buff court
from staff reports
Little Milligan was game, but the Hunter Tigers
proved to be too tenacious for the Buffaloes on Tuesday night.
Led by Terry Campbell's 14-point performance,
the Tigers captured a 51-39 middle school victory on Little
Milligan's home floor.
"We had balanced scoring and rebounded well,
but our shooting was off," said Hunter coach Mike Dorsey.
"Little Milligan did a good job of keeping it close, with
Austin Harper playing a great game."
Aided by a good start, Hunter was able to withstand
a 17-point effort by the Buffaloes' Austin Harper, who nailed
three 3-pointers.
The Tigers (2-4) were up 12-4 at the end of the
first quarter, and led 24-14 at the break.
Little Milligan stayed within striking distance
throughout the second half, but Hunter managed to keep the
Buffaloes from making a serious challenge down the stretch.
Michael Carpenter and Hunter Taylor both scored
in double figures for the Tigers, netting 10, while Jeff Wilson
chipped in with nine.
Travis Gregg contributed eight points for Little
Milligan.
