Milligan advances to second round

Johnson City, TN -- Milligan dominated
Brescia University to advance to the second round of the Women's
Soccer Regional Tournament. Milligan won the game 9-0.
Bianca Spoto recorded a hat trick in the blowout.
She also helped on two more goals for the Lady Buffs. Salem
Wood scored a goal and assisted on another.
Rebecca Hulian scored her first goal of the season.
She also recorded an assist.
The Lady Buffs out shot Brescia 19 to 3. They
controlled the game on both end of the field.
Emma Wirkus recorded the shutout stopping all
three shots.
Milligan will travel to Barbourville, Ky on Friday
to play the #2 seed Bethel College in the semifinals of the
Region 12 tournament. The game is schedule at 2:00 PM. The
winner of that game will play for the championship on Saturday
and a berth to NAIA National Tournament in St. Charles, MO.
Milligan improves to 16-4-1.
Men's Basketball
Buffs destroy Warren Wilson 92-35
Asheville, NC---Milligan picks up their first
win of the season by running past Warren Wilson 92-35. They
even their record at 1 and 1.
Junior Michael Morrell (Elizabethton) led the
Buffs with 21 points and Freshman Marc Curry added 17.
Curry, who was the Knoxville Player of the Year
last season, played a solid game scoring double figures in
his second game as a collegiate.
Jonathon Harris scored 15 points. He led Milligan
with 19 points in their first game against Berea College.
They lost to Berea 67-63.
Milligan led 57-20 at halftime.
"I like the way we are playing defense. We have
a very young team, but we are improving everyday in practice.
We are heading in the right direction as a team," states head
coach Tony Wallingford.
Milligan will host Berea College on Saturday
night at 7:30 PM. This will be their first home game of the
season.
