Finding plenty of fuel in its fourth-quarter
tank, the Central Comets got past Hunter 47-35 in elementary
basketball action on the Tigers' home floor Wednesday afternoon.
Central (1-1) was clinging to a three-point lead
at the end of the third quarter, then outscored Hunter (0-1)
17-8 in the final period to get the job done.
Josh Moore had the hot hand for the Comets, tossing
in 18 points, while Matt Moore, 10 points; Jordan Lewis, 9
points; and Nick Sanders, 8 points; delivered solid contributions.
The Comets enjoyed an accurate effort from the
floor, hitting 21 of 38 attempts.
Hunter, which played the Comets to a 20-20 halftime
tie, were topped by Michael Carpenter and Hunter Taylor with
11 points apiece.
The Tigers shot 13-of-33 from the field.
Next up for Hunter is a home game with Keenburg
on Monday at 5 p.m. Central will also be in action that day,
visiting Johnson County for a 5 p.m. tip-off.
