The Lady Trailblazers of Daniel Boone were just to big for the Lady Bulldogs of Hampton on Friday night as they defeated the Dogs 56-42 in the Happy Valley Thanksgiving Invitational play.
The Blazers were getting three and four shots at every basket on offense and were clearing the boards on defense.
Daniel Boone led by five at the end of the first 10-5, and were up 21-13 at the half. Brittani Head was unstoppable for Boone as she threw in 21 points on the night.
The Lady Bulldogs never could get things going, being outscored in the third as well by an 18-10 count. Amanda Finney was high scorer for the Lady Dogs with 13, and Kari Stout followed with 10.
Although the Bulldogs outscored the Blazers in the fourth 19-10 they had fell too far behind to recover. Teddi Frazier tossed in 13 points for Daniel Boone, Allison Langrel scored 12.
Coach Leslie Campbell in her first year as head coach of the Lady Dogs stated, "We were scared to death. We played them this summer in camp and they beat us by about 50. We just got to put four quarters together and we'll be tough. We're learning."
