The Unaka Rangers opened their season on a good
note Monday, defeating the Cloudland Highlanders 62-36 in
front of the school during a day game.
A packed house watch as the Rangers clicked on
all cylinders, scoring 28 points in the first half. A fullcourt
press proved to be fatal to the 'Landers as the Rangers threw
up easy baskets.
Missing only three fouls shots the entire first
half, the Rangers picked up 11 points from Chris Buckles in
the two quarters.
Aaron Greer came out hot in the third quarter,
scoring six straight points and nine in the quarter to push
the Ranger lead to 48-24 by the end of the period.
In the final quarter the Rangers unloaded the
bench as Brandon Roper, Andrew Church and Kyle Wilson scored
in the final period.
Jason Winters scored eight points to lead Cloudland
while Greer tallied 16 for Unaka, and Tee Blevins followed
with 15.
