Milligan starts season with loss
to Berry

MT. BERRY, GA. -- Using a balanced scoring attack,
Berry College's men basketball team trampled Milligan 86-66
Friday night in the first round of the Days-Inn Berry College
Classic at the Vikings' Ford Gymnasium.
Five players scored in double figures for Berry,
while the Viking defense forced 17 turnovers. Milligan took
an early lead before Berry went on a 13-2 run to go up 23-17
midway through the first half.
In the second half, Berry lit up the nets with
a barrage of three-point shots. John David Gable led the Vikings
with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Stacey Scotten and
Lucas Romine each had 14 points. Eric Herrick with 13 and
Kirk Feinswog with 10 points were the other Vikes to score
in double figures.
The Buffaloes were led by Michael Morrell's 15
points, while A.J. Hamler had 14 points, six rebounds and
five assists. Lance Ashby added 13 points and newcomer Craig
Emmert piled in 11 points and four blocks to the Milligan
effort.
The Buffaloes rebounded nicely in their second
game of the Days Inn Classic on Saturday with a 97-73 win
over Belhaven.
MILLIGAN WOMEN SHUTS OUT COVENANT

Salem Wood broke a scoreless tie in the 34th
minute to lead Milligan's women's soccer to a 2-0 victory
over Covenant Friday afternoon at the Lady Buffaloes' soccer
field.
After Wood's high, curving shot Jackie Goncalves
added a second goal with a shot that bounced off the Covenant
goalkeeper's hand.
The Lady Buffaloes improved to 17-2-3 on the
season with the victory, still not allowing a goal in three
playoff games this year.
