Buffs tame Lions

  The Milligan College Buffaloes soccer team defeated the Bryan (Tenn.) College Lions by the score of 4-2 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference contest at Anglin Field Saturday evening.
  With the win, the Buffs improve to 8-5-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the conference.
  Milligan held a 3-0 halftime lead with the first half goals coming from senior Ali Mohamed (Nairobi, Kenya) with an assist from senior Steven Townley (Adelaide, Australia) in the 12th minute.
  Townley score a goal for himself at the 38-minute mark with an assist from sophomore Caleb Bollman (Avon, Indiana.)
  The last goal of the half came from freshman Stuart Makinson (Franklin, N.C.) with the assist from Mohamed in the 43rd minute.
  The final goal for the Buffs came at the 78-minute mark as Townley scored unassisted.
  The Bryan Lions tried to claw back into the contest with two goals to close the gap, at the 81st and 89th minutes.
  Milligan outshot Bryan 11-5 in the contest, and sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Fode (Surrey, BC, Canada) recorded three saves for the Buffs.
  "It was a good conference victory," said Milligan head coach Marty Shirley. "We had the lead 4-0 but lost focus and allowed them to score two goals late.
  Next for the Buffaloes is an AAC road trip to face Union (Ky.) College Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
