Buffs perform well in Classic

ROME, Ga. -- The Milligan cross country team had an impressive
performance at the Southeast Classic, hosted by Berry College,
on Saturday.
The Lady Buffs finished fourth out of 23 schools for a total
163 points, boasting three top 20 finishers.
Milligan was led by sophomore Marta Zimon, who finished third
with a time of 18:24. With a season best of 18:53, junior
Megan Lease finished tenth. Running the course at a personal
best of 19:21 and finishing 18th was senior Lauren Gross.
Malone College (Ohio), which is ranked 10th nationally, won
women's championship with 46 points.
Milligan men's cross country team finished fifth overall with
124 points. The meet hosted three of the top 16 nationally
ranked teams. The Buffaloes finished eight points behind Berry
College (Ga.), currently nationally ranked 16th.
With the strong performance, Milligan coach Chris Layne said:
"I am confident that the Milligan cross country team will
be ranked in the next poll."
Leading the way for the Milligan men was freshman Sean Bowman
finishing seventh with a time of 25:24. Sophomore Chris Wright
finished in eighth place with a time of 25:26.
Running personal best for the Buffaloes was senior Shane Oakleaf
at 26:38, sophomore Trevor Donovan at 26:53, and junior Ted
Dubois with a time of 27:09.
At the men's meet, ninth ranked Cumberland College (Ky.) won
the meet, beating fourth-ranked Malone College (Ohio).
