Lady Buffs go 1-2 on road swing

The Milligan Lady Buffs returned home late Saturday evening
after competing in three aggressive conference games on the
road.
They first traveled to Bryan College on Friday night and lost
to the Lady Lions with scores of 26-30, 18-30 and 27-30.
Lindsey Wetherholt completed 11 kills, followed by Joy Dobbs
with nine. Morgan Hyatt had nine digs and Myra O'Dell had
eight.
Blocks were led by Allison Langrel with three, while Tara
Earhart, Amanda Caldwell and Hyatt each had two. O'Dell also
provided 16 assists, while Beth Snapp ended with 15.
On Saturday morning the Lady Buffs traveled to Tennessee Wesleyan,
where they won 30-23, 30-22 and 30-18.
O'Dell had an exceptional game, finishing with two aces and
16 assists. Dianne Sooter finished the match with 11 assists,
and Katie Mullins ended with 12 digs.
Dobbs and Hyatt each had eight kills, while Earhart also added
seven of her own. Earhart also had three blocks, followed
by Hyatt, Caldwell and Langrel, who each added two respectively.
Saturday afternoon proved to be a harder match when Milligan
took on Covenant College, losing 3-2. Scores from the match
were 27-30, 30-27, 25-30, 30-9 and 10-15.
Although the Buffs lost, their team effort was nothing short
of hard work. Leslie Burke and Earhart each had two aces,
while O'Dell and Snapp each had three. Earhart also completed
11 kills and four blocks.
Hyatt racked up 12 kills, while Langrel added seven kills
and five blocks. Katie Mullins finished with 19 digs; O'Dell
completed 20 assists followed by Sooter with 15.
Milligan's overall record now stands at 8-18, with a conference
record of 6-9. The Buffs will next play at home tonight at
at 6:30 against Bluefield College.
