BRISTOL -- Tennessee High's stingy defense held
Sullivan Central to 124 overall yards -- 39 rushing -- in
its 23-0 win at Stone Castle on Friday night.
Brad Deal found Chris Maith with touchdown passes
of 25 and 19 yards -- with the 25 yarder in the second quarter
-- giving the Vikes a 10-0 halftime advantage.
Boodle Clark added a 6 yard touchdown run in
the fourth quarter for the final margin of victory. Deal passed
for 134 yards.
Sullivan South 42, Unicoi County 6
ERWIN -- Russell Tritapoe ran for four touchdowns
as the Rebels dominated the Blue Devils at Gentry Stadium.
Unicoi County fell to (2-3, 3-5), while South improved to
(4-1, 5-3).
Daniel Boone 34, Sullivan East 20
BLUFF CITY -- The Trailblazers led 27-0 at the
half and held on for their first Big Eight Conference win
of the season, as Chris Clear scored on touchdown runs of
5 and 72 yards. East remains winless for the second consecutive
season at (0-5, 0-8).
Clear finished with 117 yards rushing, while
fullback Brian Barron added 83 yards and a 5 yard touchdown
run.
Justin Horton led the Patriots with 98 yards
rushing.
Morristown West 20, Greeneville 14
GREENEVILLE -- The Trojans Jay Walker scored
on a 23 yard run with less than three minutes remaining to
lift Morristown West to a thrilling 20-14 win at Burley Stadium.
Thomas Lister scored on a one yard plunge to
make it a 7-7 contest at the break, and tight end Ben Cooper
caught a 34 yard scoring pass from Cody Baugh in the fourth
period to tie the contest at 14-14.
Brandon Reece scored on a pair of one-yard runs
for the Trojans.
Dobyns-Bennett 50, Knox Karns 15
KNOXVILLE --The Indians built a 36-0 lead at
the intermission and cruised to a huge win to remain unbeaten
at 8-0 (5-0 Big East). Quarterback Scott Butler threw four
scoring passes and finished with eight-of-13 for 237 yards
on the night.
Jacob McMillan had a 26 yard scoring run in the
Tribe romp as Karns remained winless at (0-5, 0-8).
Morristown East 34, Volunteer 28
MORRISTOWN -- A late comeback attempt by the
Volunteer Falcons fell short, leaving them still winless in
the Inter-Mountain Conference at 0-4.
The Hurricanes built an early lead that ballooned
at 28-7 before the Falcons rallied. Quarterback Dustin Fugate
threw scoring passes of 43 and 63 yards to Joe Simpson, but
it was a 25-yard interception that East's Anthony Span returned
for a score that pushed the Canes to victory.
Science Hill 49, Campbell County 26
JACKSBORO -- 'Topper quarterback Kye Hamilton
had touchdown passes to three different receivers in Science
Hill's win.
Bryson Bowling, JaKeith Hairston and Brett Wilhoit
each hauled in scoring tosses as the 'Toppers built a 28-6
halftime advantage that extended to a 42-6 lead by the start
of the final stanza.
Science Hill improved to 4-1, 6-2, while Campbell
County fell to 1-4, 1-7.
Sullivan North 44, Pigeon Forge 6
KINGSPORT -- Fullback Matt Schaffer broke loose
for 189 yards rushing and a touchdown as the Golden Raiders
crushed Appalachian Athletic Conference rival Pigeon Forge.
The Raiders improved to (3-1, 6-2) while the
Tigers now stand (0-4, 2-6) on the season.
QB Kevin Arnold passed for 130 yards and a pair
of scores, while adding a rushing touchdown to the mix. Lance
Carter caught scoring aerials of 35 and 26 yards.
South Greene 38, Chuckey-Doak 0
AFTON -- Senior fullback Neal Ricker rushed for
101 yards and added a pair of two-point conversion runs, and
caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Adam Hansel as the
Rebels dominated the Black Knights at the 'Black Hole.'
Adan Blevins chalked up 72 of Chuckey-Doak's
193 yards of total offense as the Knight's fell to (1-2, 3-5).
Leading 14-0 at the break, South Greene scored
three more times in the second half to win going away and
improve to (3-0, 7-1).
Hansel hit tight end Wes Parkins on a 52 yard
scoring pass in the third period as the Rebels pulled away.
Hansel finished with 109 yards rushing and three scoring passes.
