New Harold McCormick gym pressed into service

   When students arrive at Harold McCormick Elementary School tomorrow, a new full-size gymnasium will await them.
   The $886,000 gym will replace a recreational room with 12-foot ceilings which had been used for years. The recreational room will be renovated for classroom use.
   "We can now have basketball and volleyball games at Harold McCormick. Elizabethton High and T.A. Dugger Junior High School practice sessions and games will also be played at Harold McCormick," according to John Hutchins, principal.
   The new gym is equipped with six basketball goals, a stage on the north side of the gym, bleachers to seat 350 people, lockers and showers for boys and girls and concessions.
   Burwil Construction Co., Bristol, the contractor, began construction in March of last year. Thomas Weems, Johnson City, were the architects.
