dePaula gives Lady Buffs 1-1 tie with Tusculum

   GREENEVILLE -- Milligan College sophomore Erika dePaula scored the tying goal with 22:44 to play in the second half to help the Lady Buffs to a 1-1 tie with Tusculum College Monday night at Pioneer Field.
   Tusculum dominated the opening 45 minutes, outshooting the Lady Buffs 5-2, and possessing the ball in the Milligan end most of the half. Freshman Franmarie Gregg put the Pioneers on the board at the 10:21 mark.
   Milligan controlled most of the second half and the first overtime, holding an 11-5 edge in shots over the Pioneers in the middle two periods.
   dePaula evened the score at the 67:16 mark when she took a rebound off the post from a Kimberly Morris' free kick. Tusculum took over the second overtime but was unable to score, missing several scoring chances.
   Tusculum goalkeeper Meghan Laue , starting in place of Jennie Murphy, made nine saves and allowed one goal, playing all 120 minutes. Milligan keeper Emma Wirkus made six saves, with one goal allowed in 120 minutes.
   With the tie, Tusculum is now 6-1-1, while Milligan is 8-2-2. The Pioneers will go on the road for their next two matches, facing Clayton State on Oct. 5 at 5 p.m., and North Florida on Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. Milligan will travel to South Carolina State for a 4 p.m. match on Oct. 4.
