Pioneers rally to beat Bears

   HICKORY, N.C. -- The 22nd-ranked Tusculum College football team battled through five turnovers in rallying to defeat host Lenoir-Rhyne College 28-23 Saturday night at Moretz Stadium in South Atlantic Conference action.
   The mark sets a school record for the Pioneers as they are off to their best start ever and have won six games in a row dating back to last season.
   The Pioneers improved to 5-0 overall, 2-0 in the SAC, while the Bears dropped to 2-3, 0-2 SAC. The win by the Pioneers sets up this weekend's SAC showdown in Salisbury, N.C with defending league champion Catawba College (5-0, 3-0 SAC), who defeated Newberry College 31-3.
   Eric Claridy finished the game with 77 yards on 17 carries, while Dease accounted for 36 yards on eight rushes for the Pioneers. Caleb Slover finished throwing 18-for-31 for 169 yards and a pair of touchdowns. His four interceptions tied the single-game record he established last year against Arkansas-Monticello.
   On defense, Tusculum was led by JaRod Smith with eight tackles.
