Carter earns state bid

  Elizabethton's Eric Carter is going to the state championship after placing third individually in the 1-A/AA district golf tournament. Carter fielded a 79. Jared Thomas and Bradley Gouge also competed in the tournament.
  Taking the first place slot is Josh Collins of Union County who shot a 68.
  For the girls' team, Kayla Vestal shot a 124. Sarah Blevins had to withdraw with an injury.
  Johnson County's golf team placed third overall with Josh Cornett shooting an 81 for a low score. Jesse Gilbert, Matt Stout, Gary Evans and Nevin Snyder round out the team.
  Volunteer finished in first place earning a state bid.
