from staff reports
Elizabethton returned to the win column in girls' soccer action Saturday afternoon at Brown-Childress Stadium, beating Daniel Boone 2-1.
The Lady Cyclones first struck 13 minutes into the contest as Samantha McClay scored after an assist from Karin Kitchens.
Boone's Lady 'Blazers knotted up things at the 34-minute mark when April Vititoe scored. The teams headed into the half, locked at 1-1.
Only four minutes into the second half, McClay put EHS back in front with a direct kick from about 20 yards out.
No real attempt at the goal was made the rest of the way with the action contained mainly between the 18-yard lines. The Lady Cyclones tripled the number of shot attempts of Boone.
Elizabethton will return to the field Tuesday at Sullivan Central. On Thursday, a rematch with the Lady 'Blazers at their home field is in order.
