from staff reports

Samantha McClay had a special night on Wednesday, and the Lady Cyclones put away another conference foe at Brown-Childress Stadium with a 7-1 win over the Lady Golden Raiders of Sullivan North.
McClay pushed the school record even further by notching in her 103 goal. McClay scored in the second minute of an assist from Mara LaPorte for her 100th career goal. She got her 101th seven minutes later off a penalty kick.
Mara LaPorte scored in the 19th minute of an assist from Brianne Gouge for a 3-0 lead. Then McClay got an assist from LaPorte for a 4-0 lead at the half.
Sophia Murillo got her first career goal in the 41st minute off an assist from LaPorte. Maria Francisco kept the keeper duties in check while Murillo got some field time.
McClay scored again this time unassisted in the 54th minute.
North finally got on the board in the 57th minute when Lauren Vaughn scored off a penalty kick. Natasha Baker got on a Abbie Jenkins rebound in the 79th minute for the 7-1 final.
"We did what we had to do," said Elizabethton head coach Bill McClay. "Everybody got in a lot of playing time. We played the ball well, especially in the final third, getting to where we are crashing the goal."
The Lady Cyclones are now 5-2-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference. Tonight they host a non-conference match against Tennessee High.
"It will be a good test in Tennessee High," Coach McClay said.
On Saturday, Elizabethton will host Daniel Boone at 1 p.m.
