Fode sparks Buffs' shutout

  BREVARD, N.C. -- Goalkeeper Jordan Fode recorded a shutout to help Milligan College secure a 3-0 road win over conference rival Brevard College Tuesday evening.
  Milligan senior Ali Mohammed scored the first goal of the afternoon in the 25th minute off a penalty kick. Milligan's second goal came unassisted from sophomore Caleb Bollman.
  Mohammed had a hand in Milligan's last goal of the night, assisting David Lilly to seal the win.
  The Buffs had 28 shots to Brevard's eight.
  The Lady Buffs also played at Brevard on Tuesday, and emerged with a 5-0 win.
  Milligan's next game is at home against Covenant College on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 18. The women play at 2 and the men at 4:30.
  MEN'S GOLF
  NIOTA -- The Milligan College men's golf team set a new school record on Monday at The Tennessee Wesleyan Fall Invitational. The Buffs shot a four-man score of 301 and 303 in the two-day tournament.
  The score of 301 is a new Milligan Golf record.
  The Buffs finished third in the 12 team event held at Springbrook Country Club with a 36-hole total of 604.
  Sophomore Matt Barefoot (Dobyns-Bennett) was low score for Milligan with a 36-hole total of 148 (74/74) as he finished tied for ninth overall. Low 18-hole total for the Buffs went to sophomore Aaron Jessee with a second round 73.
  SOFTBALL
  The Milligan College softball team will host its annual Fall Classic, Sept. 17-18 at Johnson City's Winged Deer Park.
  Teams scheduled to compete include Milligan, Brevard College, King College, Tusculum College, Virginia Intermont College, Roane State Community College, Walters State Community College, UVA-Wise, and Lincoln Memorial University. In addition, the tournament will host many of the regions top high school programs including Unaka, Daniel Boone, and Sullivan Central.
  Play begins Friday at 4 p.m., then again at 9 a.m. on Saturday. The championship game takes place Saturday at 8:45 p.m.
  The Lady Buffs' first game is Friday at 7:30 p.m. against King College.
