EHS set to induct new Sports HOF members

  The fifth annual induction ceremony of the Elizabethton High School Sports Hall of Fame will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. in the A.L. John Treadway Gymnasium at Elizabethton High School.
  The general public in invited and all previous inductees are strongly urged to attend. The following outstanding coaches/athletes, who have brought great honor to the school and to the city of ELizabethton, will be inducted:
  Worley Birchfield: 1961-1964 in basketball, All East Tennesse team in '64, MVP District Tournament '64, All State Team in '64
  Sam Bradshaw: '56-60 in football/baseball/track, All Conference in football '58 and '59, All Conference in '60 in baseball, three year letterman in track
  Robert "Daylight" Fletcher (deceased): '43-47 in football, All Conference '44, '45, '46, three year started at Ole Miss, All Conference SEC in '46
  Jimmy Glass: '52-'56 in football, three-year letterman as quarterback '53-'55, Honorable Mention All State in '55, Starter in Tenn/VA All-Star Game in '55
  Lewis Gass: '57-'61 in football, All Conference in '58 and '59, All State '59, U.T. Football scholarship
  John Goodwin: '69-'73 in football and basketball, All State football in '72, football scholarship to Virginia Tech, conference scoring leader in basketball '72, All State '72
  Tommy Jenkins (deceased): '62-'66 football and coaching '67-'03, All Conference and All East Tennessee teams in '65, football scholarship to ETSU, coached at EHS for 22 years, led Cyclones to State Playoffs every year as head coach
  Dan McCall (deceased): '51-'55 in football, All Conference '53 and '54, All State and All Southern in '54, scholarship to Vanderbilt Univ.
  Jim Presnell: '69-'73 in track and '73-present coaching, EHS record holder in discus, regional and state champion in discus, member NCAA Champions in Track & Field in '74
  Pat Spurgeon: '44-'48 in football and '54-'02 coaching, All Conference, All East Tenn and All State in '47, three year starter at Emory & Henry College, Bowl games '49-51, assistant coach at Georgia Southern, Youngstown State and Ohio State
  Bill Tetrick: '59-'62 in basketball, All Conference and All District Tournament in '62, basketball scholarship at Davidson College, starter and leading scorer fir U.S. Marine Corps in '66
  Bill Wilkins: '60-'84 as the 'Voice of the Cyclones', goodwill ambassador for EHS for 24 years.
