Buffs break Brevard

from staff reports
The Milligan men's soccer team breezed to a 6-1 win over Brevard College at Anglin Field on Tuesday night.
That now puts the Buffaloes at a 2-1 conference record and a 7-3 record overall.
All of Milligan's goals came in the first half, starting off with a pass and assist from Alex Kimani to Greg Hochstetter just one minute and fifteen seconds into the match.
Forty-five seconds later, Gabe Hillman scored off of a dropped ball from the Brevard keeper.
Ali Mohamed scored eight minutes into the first half with a cross from captain Brian Okumu. Eric Star set up Mohamed for his second goal that pierced the side netting with a shot from 30 yards out.
Mohamed again scored off of a give and go from Phillip Brock, giving him a hat trick for the game.
Hochstetter received an assist as well after setting up Robbi Arnold for a goal with less than ten minutes to go in the half.
The second half saw a much more intense and physical game between the two teams, with one red card handed out to a Brevard player by the referee.
Dustin Free put the Tornadoes on the board with an unassisted goal 30 minutes into the second half.
Milligan keeper Jordan Fode recorded eight saves on goal for the game and one goal against. Brevard keeper Trevor Redpath had three saves on goal for the match and six goals against.
The Buffaloes travel to Lookout Mtn., Ga. on Saturday, Sept. 27, for their 1 p.m. matchup against Covenant College.
