UNCA gets past Lady Bucs, 2-1

ASHEVILLE, N.C.--UNC Asheville's Kelsey Dawson scored the
game winning goal early in the second half, to help UNCA defeat
East Tennessee State 2-1 on Monday afternoon at Greenwood
Field.
UNCA's Kate Barrow received her first collegiate goal when
she received a pass from Hilary McKay and took a shot from
30 yards out. The ball passed over ETSU goalkeeper Heather
Sanden's hands and into the net at 15:04. UNCA held onto the
one goal lead for the rest of the first half, out-shooting
ETSU 6-3.
Kelsey Dawson earned her seventh goal of the year and second
game-winner, when she received a pass from Hilary McKay that
was sent through the ETSU defense. Dawson beat a defender
and created a one-on-one situation where she passed the ball
into the left side netting to put UNCA (4-2-0) up by two at
57:47.
East Tennessee State found the goal in the 80th minute of
play when Erin Ashton was taken down by a UNCA defender in
the penalty area. Ashton took the penalty kick and just barely
got the ball past UNCA goalkeeper Rebecca Bostian. Bostian
finished the day with seven saves.
Erin Ashton almost earned her second goal of the game with
two minutes remaining. She took a point blank shot at Bostian
who managed to smother the ball right in front of the goal
line.
The Lady Bucs (4-1-0) finished with 11 shots to UNCA's 17.
Hilary McKay led all players with nine shots. ETSU's goalkeeper
Heather Sanden was credited with eight saves.
