Milligan prevails in volleyball, women's soccer

   The Milligan volleyball team swept UVA-Wise in three straight games (30-17, 30-19, 30-21) Tuesday night to improve to 4-2 and 2-0 in the AAC Conference.
   Seniors Wendy Weaver and Christina Medlin led the Lady Buffs' offense with 15 kills apiece.
   Heather Lanning forced the action from the setter position with 19 assists while Sarah Beair had 15.
   "I really like the pace we played tonight," said Lady Buffs head coach Kim Hyatt. "We played really well over the weekend and we carried that into tonight."
   Milligan will travel to Greeneville on Friday and Saturday to play in the Tusculum College Tournament. The Lady Buffs will play Lee University and Concord College on Friday. On Saturday, they will face off against King and Tusculum.
   Milligan shutouts Brevard
   BREVARD, N.C. -- Milligan rolled past Brevard College by a 7-0 score in women's soccer action Tuesday night. Sophomore Deniece Kitchin scored two goals and assisted on two more to help Milligan improve to 4-1 and 3-0 in the AAC Conference.
   Sophomore Kim Morris picked up four points from her sweeper position with a goal and two assist.
   Alicia Rosendahl helped out the offense kicking two past the Brevard goalkeeper.
   Freshmen Katie Lindemann, coming off a couple of minor injuries, scored a goal in both halves to pace the Lady Buffs.
   Senior goalkeeper Abby Armstrong picked up her fourth win in five decisions. She recorded her fourth shutout of the season.
   The Milligan defense did not allow a shot on goal in 90 minutes of play.
   Milligan will host Tiffin University on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Tiffin is currently 25th in the nation. This will be the 2002 home opener for the Lady Buffs.
