Wes's Picks

By Wes Holtsclaw

A week ago, I fell short of predicting Daniel Boone over Volunteer, South Greene over David Crockett and missed ECS' victory against Memphis Overton.
This week, I'll start with Happy Valley's battle against West Greene. A week ago, I predicted a 42-18 Buffalo loss to the Johnson County Longhorns much to the displeasure of a West Greene coach, even though I gave his team 18 points.
Johnson County won 46-0. Sorry coach, this week doesn't get much better.
  (Last Week 17-3, Overall 17-3)
West Greene at Happy Valley -- The Warriors had their hands full with Unicoi County last week in a close rivalry game. I expect the team to bounce back in full force at home. WARRIORS 38-6
Tennessee High at Elizabethton -- 'Betsy really should've came out on top against Science Hill Friday. If the orange and black prevent turnovers, they will surprise some people against the tough Vikings. CYCLONES 24-14
Cloudland at Rye Cove, VA -- The Highlanders will be looking for their first in on the road against the War Eagles. Unfortunately for Cloudland, Rye Cove returns a lot of tough-hitting starters. EAGLES 21-12
Hampton at Knox Catholic -- The Bulldogs may take some lumps this week on the road against the defending Division II-AA State Runner-up. The tough contest will serve as good preparation for the conference games. FIGHTING IRISH 38-12
Johnson County at Sullivan Central -- Look for the 'Horns to pick up their first conference win of the season. The Cougars field a good defense, but miss some key offensive skill players from last season. 'HORNS 28-20
Unaka at North Greene -- If Husky quarterback Dusty Neal plays, the air attack may be a little tough for the Rangers. If he sits, the Rangers could put themselves in the conference drivers seat. RANGERS 19-6
