Burleson breaks records

from staff reports

Joe Burleson of Roan Mountain broke two international records at the 2004 Pan American Masters Weightlifting Championship in Savannah, Ga. on July 17-18. In the Men's 45-49 age group, Burleson brought back the gold medal.
He did 108 kg./238 lbs. in the snatch and 130.5 kg./287.70 lbs. in the clean and jerk. He also tied the total record of 237.5 kg./523.59 lbs.
Burleson was the competetor in his class, but he says that being the only competetor actually made it more difficult for him because he wasn't being pushed.
Another first for Burleson was that he went 6-for-6, not missing any attempts, which was something that had alluded him in his 32 years of lifting.
