Dick receives Co-MVP honor in Watauga
from staff reports
After having the kind of season some players can
only wish for, Happy Valley senior Alicia Dick was named Co-Most
Valuable Player this year on the All-Watauga Conference softball
team.
Dick, who shared the honor with Unicoi County's
Natalie Lockner, posted a 9-4 record on the mound with an
even more impressive 0.70 ERA in 110 innings. She also struck
out 89 batters, and registered a batting over of .350.
Also on the team for the conference co-champion
Lady Warriors are Jessica Blevins, Mandy Byrd, Kortney Goulds
and Terra Whaley.
Elizabethton, a first-time sectional qualifer
this year, placed three players on the squad -- Katie Hubbard,
Kristie Keys and Jessica Robinson -- while Johnson County
and Hampton both had two all-conference performers. Amanda
Dowell and Kayla Lewis represent the Lady Longhorns, with
Heather Chambers and Melissa Norris representing the Lady
Bulldogs.
All-Watauga Valley
Three players from Cloudland were selected to
this year's All-Watauga Valley Conference team. They were
Daranda Byrd, Tryphena Denton and Kayla Blevins.
