Keith to remain as 'Lander head
coach
from staff reports
It doesn't take a lot to get the rumor mills
rolling in Carter County, but one rumor was laid to rest on
Monday night. Gary Oaks, athletic director for Cloudland High
School, announced that Gary Keith will still be head football
coach for this fall season.
It was rumored that Keith was going to step down
from his post and that Robbie Turbyfill would take over as
head coach, or would fill in as an interim head coach until
Keith's return.
Keith underwent bypass surgery about a month
ago but is expected to come back to coaching, at least part
time, at the beginning of August. Until he is medically released,
assistants Gary Oaks, Turbyfill and Gary Lewis will fill in
for his coaching duties.
The Highlanders will begin practicing for the
passing league on Tuesday, July 20.
