Elizabethton Nationals zips past Jonesborough

from staff reports

No, Aerosmith didn't show up at Lions Field on Saturday and sing "Janey's Got A Gun," but pitcher Janey Robinson had little trouble shooting down any hope of a Jonesborough offensive threat.
Hurling a no-hitter in a five-inning shutout, Robinson led Elizabethton National to a 15-0 win over the Jonesborough club in the Junior League (13/14-year-olds) softball district all-star tournament.
When Robinson first took the mound, she had a big margin for error she would never need, as Elizabethton pounced on Jonesborough for 12 runs in the top of the first inning.
McKenzie Eggers, Rebecca Morrow and Cassie Johnson banged out two hits apiece for 'Betsy, while Robinson, Taylor Bellessa, Amy Aubrey, Nichole Cantrell and Leah Henson added one each.
Elizabethton plays in the championship at 2 p.m. this afternoon.
