Johnson County rallies to beat Bluff City in Zone 1

from staff reports

Jesse Poteet and Johnson County saved their best for last on Thursday night in the Zone 1, 12-year-old All-Star tournament at T.J. Burleson Field.
The Mountain City ball club entered the bottom of the sixth trailing Bluff City by a run, but rose to the occasion by scoring three times for a 4-2 win. Poteet finished the contest in dramatic style, launching a two-run homer.
Failing to hit the ball well until its final at-bat, Johnson County turned things for the better when Zack Hayworth banged out a single. Hayworth went to second on a passed ball, then came home on a Daniel Parker single to tie the game.
After Parker advanced to second on another passed ball, Poteet went deep with a shot over the right-center field fence.
Kevin Pardue went 1-for-1 for Johnson County, which received a 1-for-2 showing from Jimmy Bickmore and 1-for-3 efforts from Hayworth, Parker and Poteet. Parker was the winning pitcher, collecting nine strikouts and walking none.
Noah Osborne's 2-for-3 performance was tops offensively for Bluff City. Derick Haga and Zack Scalf each batted 1-for-2.
Osborne totaled 11 strikeouts and just one walk as the Bluff City pitcher.
