Elizabethton's Gill sweeps Pizza Plus doubleheader

   BRISTOL -- Defending track champion Mike Gill is headed for a second straight Pro Bike Bristol Dragway championship as he captured wins on both Saturday and Sunday in Pizza Plus Bracket Series action
   Gill and his 1992 Suzuki came away with a win over David Rogers of Whitesburg on Saturday and backed it up on Sunday with a victory over Jerry Turner of Bluff City.
   On Saturday, Gill knocked off Rogers and his 1982 Suzuki with a .029 reaction time and a 6.079 elapsed time at 108.42 mph. Rogers came off the line in .018 with a 5.960 E.T. at 111.91 mph.
   On Sunday, Gill cut a .055 light with a 6.282 E.T. at 92.35 mph while Turner's 1984 Kawasaki posted a .038 light with a 7.111 E. T. at 106.19 mph.
   Saturday's other winners included Greeneville's Kline White (1968 Chevy, .004 reaction time, 6.451 E.T., 105.46 mph) in Super Pro, Terry Coleman (1969 Nova, .101 reaction time, 8.662 E.T., 78.12 mph) of Newland, N.C., in Pro, Elizabethton's Carl Widner (1974 Regal, .168 reaction time, 12.093 E.T., 109.36 mph) in Sportsman, Seth Street (0/1 M/T, .185 reaction time, 9.592 E.T., 66.86 mph) of Cedar Bluff, Va., in Junior Dragster Division 1 and Johnson City's Jordy Whetsell (2000 Spitzer, .020 reaction time, 9.391 E.T., 65.61 mph) in Junior Dragster Division 2 action.
   Sunday's winners were Stacy Williams (1966 GTO, .010 reaction time, 6.594 E.T., 102.66 mph) of Powell in Super Pro; Bristol's John Nelson, Jr. (1972 Challenger, .083 reaction time, 6.943 E.T., 95.10 mph), in Pro; Blountville's Danny Guinn (1973 Chevy, .104 reaction time, 12.286 E.T., 103.75 mph) in Sportsman; Jacob Boling (2003 Boling, .163 reaction time, 9.662 E.T., 66.98 mph of Seymour in Junior Dragster Division 1 and Tyler Smith (1992 Halfscale, .045 time, 8.064 E.T., 81.48 mph) of Knoxville in Junior Dragster Division 2 competition.
   The Pizza Plus Bracket Series will continue at Bristol Dragway with a season finale doubleheader on Sept. 6-7.
