Twins blank Devil Rays

PRINCETON, W.Va. -- The Elizabethton Twins took advantage of four errors and a crushing two-run homer from Brock Peterson in the fourth inning to oust the Princeton Devil Rays 5-0 at Hunnicutt Field.
The 'Betsy Bombers combined for nine hits in the outing, ripping Romelio Lopez in his six innings of work for Princeton.
Peterson, Denard Span and Angelo Fermin each went 2-for-4 for Elizabethton, with Span connecting for a double and an RBI.
Justin Sims knocked in a run for the Twins as teammates Dusty Goman, Josh Johnson and Jason Pospishil had a hit apiece.
Travis Schlichting had a double for Princeton, which got four hits from different batters in the game.
Twenty-year old Glendale, Cal. native Errol Simonitsch tossed five complete innings for Elizabethton, allowing two hits and striking out six.
Simonitsch picked up his first win of the season over Lopez while combining with Hiroyuki Iida, Ryan Hader, Paul Mutch and John Lynch for 10 strikeouts on the game.
Elizabethton (20-10) keeps its West Division lead with two more contests at Princeton (10-17) before returning home for a three-game stand against the Danville Braves.
