E-Twins wallop Bluefield, 13-2

BLUEFIELD, W.V. -- The Elizabethton Twins kept their win-streak intact with a dominant 13-2 victory over the Bluefield Orioles Wednesday night.
The 'Betsy Bombers tallied 14 hits in the game, using a 2-of-5 outing from Ron Perodin, who had a triple and five RBIs, to explode past the 'Baby Birds' early.
Twins outfielder Ryan Spataro added a three-run homer for Elizabethton late in the contest.
Park Ridge, Ill. native Chris Schutt earned his third victory of the season for Elizabethton (18-9), only allowing one hit in five innings pitched with seven strikeouts.
Hayden Penn took the loss for Bluefield (8-18), who was led by Quincy Ascencion's two of three outing with two ribbies.
The victory temporarily tied Elizabethton with Bristol for the West Division lead and best record in the Appalachian League. Bristol's game at Burlington faced a 45-minute rain delay and the score was unavailable at press time.
