Tigers seize pee-wee crown

The David's Trophy Tigers were forced to work
hard in the championship game of the Boys & Girls Club
boys pee-wee tournament, but still got the job done for 10-5
seven-inning victory over the pesky Orioles.
Prevailing in this exciting contest, the Tigers
wrapped up an undefeated season, posting a 16-0 record.
The Tigers' Dylan Wiseman was the first to cross
home plate, then the Orioles answered with a run of their
own.
Hunter Pierson started the game at catcher for
David's Trophy, subbing for Cody Guess, who had his tonsils
removed on Thursday.
Pitcher Aaron Price and first baseman Corey Walker
made some nice outs for Trophy, and Nick Campbell helped the
Tigers out of some tough innings with good catches of his
own at second base.
Guess came in to catch, recording two close tags
for outs at home plate. The Tigers' Christopher Johnson, hwo
played a solid left field, added to the score with his bat.
Trophy woke up with some catches by shortstop
Bradley Townsend and left center fielder Austin Oaks in the
botom of the sixth, keeping the game tied at 5-5 and sending
the game into an extra inning.
The bats for the Tigers came out swinging in
the seventh. Townsend started the rally, followed by Guess.
Ritchie Minton knocked in two runs with a double, then Pierson
scored Minton with a triple.
Price and Wiseman crossed home plate to make
the score 10-5.
The Orioles had the last at-bat, but the Tigers
would not be denied. Cody Wilson ended the game by catching
a bullet to third base.
The Tigers will be losing five players who will
be moving up next year. They are Johnson, Wilson, Nick Campbell,
Minton and Oaks.
Head coach Jimmy Price, fielding coach David
Oaks and batting coach Todd Walker helped the Tigers to their
unblemished campaign.
