SportsTicker honors Twins' Phillips, Garcia

   The Elizabethton Twins' Kyle Phillips and Angel Garcia have been named SportsTicker players of the week in the Appalachian League.
   Phillips, a first baseman/catcher from Le Mesa, Cal., was named Batter Of The Week.
   Over than eight-game stretch, Phillips batted 33 times and collected 16 hits for a .485 average. He added 11 RBIs, five runs and three doubles to his totals while achieving a .576 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage.
   Garcia, who hails from Rio Piedras, PR., earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
   Starting two games, Garcia posted a perfect 2-0 record with a flawless 0.00 earned run average. In 10 innings of work, he surrendered just five hits and struck out 12 batters while walking three.
   Both Phillips and Garcia were instrumental in the Twins' nine game-winning streak. Elizabethton currently finds itself in first place in the Western Division.
   The next Twins' home game will be tonight at 7 against the Kingsport Mets. This will Boys & Girls Club Night at Joe O'Brien Field, which includes free admission for all coaches and players.   
   Monday night's Elizabethton-at-Kingsport game was rained out.
