Buckles wins Pro event on Bristol strip

   Jason Buckles captured the Pro win in Saturday's Pizza Plus Bracket Series action at Bristol Dragway.
   Buckles and his 1967 Fairlane took home the top prize by knocking off Rick Wyatt of Blountville in the finals. Buckles came off the line in .068 with an elapsed time of 6.900 at 97.58 mph while Wyatt's Falcon drew a redlight.
   Tim Vinson's 1982 Mustang was the class of the Sportsman field, defeating Eddie Weaver of Bristol, Va., in the final round. Vinson cut a .062 light with an E.T. of 12.775 at 102.62 mph while Weaver's 1972 Dart came off the line in .135 with a 12.821 elapsed time at 100.88 mph.
   Elizabethton's Mike Gill continued his quest for a second straight Pro Bike track championship as he bested Tommy Lane of Jonesborough in the last round.
   Gill rocketed off the line with a .005 reaction time and an E.T. of 6.081 at 110.28 mph on his 1992 Suzuki.
   Lane and his 1976 Kawasaki posted a .047 light and a 5.990 elapsed time at 111.43 mph.
   Charles Pendley of Spruce Pine, N.C., took the Super Pro title in his 2002 Collins with a .005 reaction time and an E.T. of 7.463 at 90.71 mph.
   Chris Johnson of Maryville, Tenn., grabbed runner-up honors in his 1997 Boling with a .030 light and a 5.305 E.T. at 130.14 mph.
   Jonesborough's Houston Kilby nailed down the Junior Dragster Division 1 win over Kingsport's Austin Olinger.
   Kilby's 2001 Mike Bos dragster cut a .039 light with an elapsed time of 13.638 at 45.31 mph. Olinger's 2001 Bos ride came off the line in .095 with an E.T. of 9.918 at 64.11 mph.
   Dustin Martin of Clinton, Tenn., won the Junior Dragster Division 2 title over Elizabethton's Brandon McKinney. Martin's posted a .074 reaction time with an 8.645 E.T. at an impressive 75.18 mph.
   McKinney cut a .123 light with an E.T. of 10.056 at 64.74 mph.
   The Pizza Plus Bracket Series continues with a doubleheader on July 26-27.
