Orioles rally past E-Twins
from staff reports
BLUEFIELD, W.Va. -- With the Elizabethton Twins
starting to close in on a victory, Bluefield spoiled their
plans with a three-run seventh that led the Orioles to a 5-4
Appalachian League victory Saturday night.
Erasing a 4-2 deficit, the Orioles spoiled what
had been a solid outing by Elizabethton starter Nick Blackburn,
who took the loss. Blackburn gave up two runs in the first,
then pitched five scoreless innings before working two outs
in the seventh.
Justin Keeling recorded the final four Bluefield
outs.
Leading a five-hit 'Betsy attack was Dusty Gomon
at 2-for-4. Danny Matienzo socked a two-run homer during a
three-run Twins fifth.
Elizabethton was blown out by Martinsville on
Friday night, 20-5.
