The Ridgefield Country Club Racers swim team defeated
the Elizabethton Barracudas swim team 285-241 Thursday night
at Elizabethton High School.
"There has been a big improvement in my players,"
Barracudas head coach Jonell Johnson said. "I am targeting
younger swimmers because this is my feeder program for the
junior high and high school teams. That is all right with
me. I could use older players, especially 10-and-under boys.
We lost a lot of points in that area."
"They have improved a lot," Racer coach Andrew
Franklin said. "We have only had them in the water about three
weeks as far as laps. We have really improved on our techniques
in practicing every day."
Ridgefield's Justin Conner won the first heat
in the boys 10-and-under 100. Elizabethton's Brianna McManus
won first place in the girls 10-and-under. Ridgefield's Emily
Testerman placed second.
In the boys 12-and-under 100, Ridgefield's Kelly
Noris won with a time of 1:50:36. Molly Norris was uncontested
in the girls 12-and-under 100 with a time of 1:54:65.
Ben Way won the boys 14-and-under 100 heat for
Ridgefield. Elizabethton posted a first and second-place finish
in the girls 14-and-under 100 with Tayler Mollish and Alisha
Padgett. Ridgefield's Elizabeth Holt placed third.
Ridgefield's Andrew Franklin and Josh George finished
first and second, respectively, in the boys open 100. Elizabethton's
Preston Davis won the boys 8-and-under 25 free. Ridgefield's
Jackson May and Sammy Noris placed second and third, while
Elizabethton's Bo Pless placed fourth.
Jane Bowman and Katie Pless placed first and second
for Elizabethton in the girls 8-and-under 25 free. Sophia
Neglia and Sarah Homoky placed third and fourth.
Ridgefield took the boys 10-and-under 25 free
with a first-place finish by Alex Dayton and Zach Espeland.
Both teams tied for first place in the girls 10-and-under
25 free. Briana McManus of Elizabethton and MacKenzie Maddox
for Ridgefield held the top spot. Whitney Roberts posted a
third place finish for Elizabethton.
Kelly Norris earned the first-place spot for Ridgefield
in the boys 12-and-under 50 free. Jared Jordan and Luke Martinez
posted second and third for Elizabethton.
Ridgefield's Jordan Bishop and Sydney May finished
first and fourth, respectively, inthe boys 14-and-under 50
free. Justin Stanley and Marcus Hill placed second and third
for Elizabethton.
In the girls 14-and-under free, Elizabethton finished
first and second with Taylor Mollish and Amanda Walker. Elizabeth
Holt and Molly Norris finished third and fourth.
Ridgefield also took the boys open 50 free with
a first and second place finish with Travis Darling and Jim
Maddox. Mathew Fair finished third for Elizabethton.
Becky Bishop won the girls open 50 free for Ridgefield.
Alisha Padgett and Shea Whitehead placed second and third
for Elizabethton. Ridgefield's Meridith Maddox finished in
fourth.

breaststroke. Preston Davis finished second for Elizabethton.

Ridgefield's Garret McNair was the only competitor
in the boys 8 and under 25 fly. Elizabethton's Katie Pless
was the only competitor for the girls 8-and-under 25 fly.
Ridgefield's Alex Daytona and Justin Conner placed one, two
in the boys 10-and-under 25 fly.
Elizabethton's Whitney Roberts and Hosanna Leger
placed for second and fourth in the girls 10-and-under 25
fly. MacKensie Maddox and Taylor Bishop placed first and fourth
for Ridgefield.
Ridgefield ran away with the girls 12-and-under
fly with Jordan Bishop and Molly Norris, the boys 14-and-under
50 fly with Ben Way and the boys open 50 fly with Travis Darling
and Josh George.
Elizabethton took the girls 14-and-under 50 fly
with a one, two finish by Ruth Ann Johnson and Amanda Walker.
Both teams split the girls open 50 fly with first
place going to Elizabethton's Jonell Johnson and Merideth
Maddox finishing second for Ridgefield.
Ridgefield finished first in seven of the 11 events.
Sarah Homoky, Julia Dessauer, Sarah Testerman and Sophia Neglia
won the girls 8-and-under 100 free relay.
Conner Joslin, Zachery Espeland and Alex Payton
won the boys 10-and-under 100 free relay. Emily Testerman,
Julia Dessauer, Taylor Bishop and MacKenzie Maddox won the
girls 10-and-under 100 free relay.
Jordan Bishop, Molly Norris, Sydney may and MacKensie
Maddox won the girls 12-and-under 200 free relay. Kelly Norris,
Billy Carrier, Zachary Espeland and Ben Way won the boys 14-and-under
200 free relay.
Travis Darling, Josh Greene, Jim Maddox and Andrew
Franklin placed first in the boys open 200 free relay. Jackson
May, Alex Dayton, Kelly Norris and Ben Way won the boys 100
mixed medley relay.
Elizabethton's Mathew Fair, Jared Jordan, Luke
Martinez and Preston Davis won the boys 12-and-under 200 free
relay. Bethany Fair, Ruth Ann Johnson, Tayler Mollish and
Alisha Padgett won the girls 14-and-under 200 free relay.
Amanda Walker, Shea Whitehead, Jonell Johnson
and Alisha Padgett placed first in the girls open 200 free
relay. Jane Bowman, Tayler Mollish, Briana McManus and Emma
Sturgill won the girls 100 mixed medley relay.

Cheyenne Cole placed second for Elizabethton in the girls
8-and-under 100 free relay. Hosanna Leger, Katie Bowman, Whitney
Roberts and Briana McManus placed second in the girls 10 and
under 100 free relay.
