Express, Moose have their way in JBR contests

   Elizabethton/Carter County Jr. Babe Ruth action on Thursday night saw Expert Express explod for 11 runs over two innings to knock off the Elks Cubs 14-3 in the first contest, then Moose hold off Elizabethton Herb & Metal 5-2 in the second contest.
   The truckers came out hotter than Hooter's three-mile wings, with Nick McNeal and Jeff Wilson slapping singles that helped Expert to a 4-0 lead.
   McNeal added a home run in the second. Aided by doubles from Travis Bishop and Jeff Wilson en route to their 11-run win.
   McNeal, 2-for-2, and Wilson, 2-for-3, led the truckers while Bishop, Nick Papantoniou, Luke Snyder and Logan Shultz added one each.
   Jake Thomas had a good night at the plate, batting 2-for-3 to lead the Cubs while Jordan Meredith, Tim Franklin and Ethan Laws contributed solo hits.

   Moose jumped on top 2-0 in the first inning and held on to remain in the hunt for first place. Singles by Brandon Whitehead and Jeff Peters helped stake Moose to the early lead.
   The Bullwinkles added three more in the third when Whitehead and Peters singled and moved up on a sacrifice bunt by Brooks Price. Terry Campbell's single played a big role in the 5-0 lead.
   Elizabethton Herb & Metal pushed across two runs in the fourth inning thanks to singles by Nick Payne and Josh Holly. Terry Campbell got the win while Dylan Shallcross pitched a good game in defeat.
   Whitehead and Peters collected two hits each to lead Moose. Campbell and Dalton Willliams each singled.
   Tyler Blevins, Payne, and Holly had the only hits for Elizabethton Herb & Metal.
