Crush post runner-up showing in tournament

   The Orange Crush Tri-Cities captured a second-place finish in the USSSA Chattanooga 16-under Region June Jamboree Softball Tournament June 12-13, losing to the Nashville Predators 1-0 in the championship.
   The Crush is comprised of girls from Elizabethton High School, Happy Valley, University High, Dobyns-Bennett, Daniel Boone, Sullivan South and Lee High (Va.). The team is managed by Wes Holly Jr., assistant softball coach at Milligan College.
   Coach Holly selected 12 girls to help prepare their skills for the collegiate level of play.
   The Crush started off with a bang on Saturday, winning its first two outings, 8-2 and 7-5. Tri-Cities began pool play on Sunday by taking a tough victory 1-0 over the Huntsville Lighting before defeating the hard-hitting Knoxville Lady Spartans 10-0, advancing to the championship game.
   The Crush will travel to Summerville, S.C., this weekend to participate in a national qualifier. The team also finished in third place June 5-6 in Pigeon Forge playing at the 18-under level.
