David's Trophies, Moose earn BR wins

   David's Trophies and Moose earned wins last night in Babe Ruth play at Elizabethton High School. David's holds a one game lead over Moose and Expert Express.

   It wasn't easy but the Giants survived a big rally by the Reds to remain in first place with an 8-5 victory.
   The plaque attack tallied a solo run in the first with singles from Chris Pierce, Bret Yelton and Matthew Rasnick doing the damage. David's went up 2-0 in the third after Scott Burleson doubled and Sam Adams singled.
   The Reds tied the score in the fourth after Brandon Birchfield walked and Daniel Simerly whacked a double to plate Birchfield. Simerly would later score on an error.
   The Giants added two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 6-2 lead. Hits by Cody Marley, Blake Russell, Brandon Medina and Pierce helped David's to a4-2 lead after four.
   Rasnick, Adams and Carpenter each had hits in the fifth added to the lead. Herb & Metal sliced the lead at 6-5 thanks to a single from C.J. Campbell and a two RBI triple by Tyler Blevins.
   The Giants tallied some insurance runs in the sixth after Burleson was pegged and Aaron Bradford ripped a double in the gap and later scored.
   Burleson earned the win while Simerly took the loss. Pierce Rasnick, Adams and Carpenter collected two hits each to lead David's while Medina, Burleson, Bradford, and Marley added solo hits.
   David Caldwell had two hits to pace the Reds while Simerly, Campbell and Blevins had the only other hits for Herb & Metal.

   The Moose was on the loose once again scoring three times in the first inning en route to the win. Moose trailed 2-0 after several walks and wild pitches gave the Braves the early lead.
   Jeff Peters walked and later scored on a double by Jonathan Canady. Brandon Whitehead added a single in the inning. Peters opened the third with walk while Brooks Price bunted for a single. Moose played small ball when Daniel Shankle and Brandon Whitehead bunted for an RBI's and a 6-3 advantage.
   The Braves got a double by Tyler Andes who later scored their third run of the game. Peters opened the fifth with his third walk and advanced to third by stealing two bases. A squeeze bunt by Canady scored Peters who would later score in the inning.
   Thomas Dearstone got the win in relief of Campbell while Justin Covington took the loss.
   Canady, Price, Shankle and Whitehead had the only hits for Moose while Peters reached base and scored three times.
   Andes was 1 for 1 reaching base four times to lead the Braves while Josh Lewis and Todd White had the only other hits.
