Miller's Plumbing bounces back, blanks Trophies

   After losing 3-1 to Peters' Concrete two nights before, Miller's Plumbing bounced back and beat David's Trophies 12-0 at the Dale Dome Thursday night.
   In the earlier games, Peters' Concrete kept its bats hot and handed B & R Construction a 7-5 loss, while Iron Mountain Survey lost a heartbreaker to Beauty Unlimited, 20-19.
   "We hit the ball and played good defense," expressed Miller's coach Dale Colbaugh.
   The plumbers wasted no time in the first. Mikki Oliver and Emily Asher each took free passes, then Hannah Colbaugh earned a free trip to first, on a drop third strike.
   Amy Colbaugh reached first on an error, then Lacey Oliver was handed a free pass.
   David's Trophies pitcher Sallee Taylor battled back and struck out the next two batters to stop the rally.
   Errors hurt the trophies in the first, as Miller's Plumbing accounted for six runs with no hits.
   David's Trophies look to start a threat in the first. Kristen Snyder led-off with a single, but Miller's tosser Kayla Winters struck out the next three batters to get out of the inning.
   Millers' Plumbing added some insurance in the second. Amanda Haerr and Mikki Oliver each chipped in RBIs, then Colbaugh advanced home on a wild pitch.
   Miller's offense exploded for four runs and two hits to make the score 10-0, after one and a half.
   While the offense was putting up the runs, Winters was polishing the trophies. She was good for seven strikeouts, while walking four.
   "I did a lot better tonight than Tuesday, my defense backed me good, and they played well," stated Winters.
   Amy Colbaugh, Oliver, Haerr, and Mikki Oliver each chipped in a hit for the plumbers. Snyder had the lone hit for the trophies.
   "Hopefully we'll be ready for next Thursday's game against Peters' Concrete," Coach Colbaugh said.

   Peters' Concrete four-run in the first and three-run in the third was good enough to beat the Construction Crew.
   B&R started in the first, where Sophia McMurillo singled in Racheal Baumgardner to give B&R a 1-0 advantage.
   The lead wouldn't last long. Peters' started off with a big rally in the bottom of the frame.
   Nikki Carrow doubled in Jeri Jones, then Jamie Icenhour brought home Carrow on a two-bagger.
   Daranda Byrd took first on a free pass, Justine Jones later reached the bases on an error. Jessica Ledford walked in Icenhour, the Byrd stole home on a wild pitch.
   B&R pitcher Whitney settled down to strike out the next three batters, but Peters' Concrete kept in control 4-1, after one.
   The construction crew added runs in the second and third. Vines, Denise Odom, and Brittany Street each knocked in runs to knot the score 4-4, after two and a half completed.
   Peters' answered in the bottom of the third. Icenhour led-off with a double, then scored off of a Byrd single. Jones singled in a run, then later Brianna Osborne chipped in a run to give Peters' Concrete a 7-5 win.
   Carrow went the distance, with the win. Her team handed Vines a tough loss in the outing.

   In the early game of the night featured a walk-a-thon. As a total of 35 walks was the main highlight in the game as, Unlimited Beauty came back and beat the Mountain 20-19.
   Robin Miller took the hill and came back to get the win, as her team gave Emily Pierce the hard-loss.
   Lynsey Hicks had two of the few hits in the game, she hit two inside-the-park home runs and knocked in eight runners.
   Kristin Mathes walked in the final run to give her team the victory.
