from staff reports

Backing up his own good pitching, Scott Burleson went 2-for-2 with a double and drove in three runs as the David's Trophies Giants defeated the Tetrick Marlins 5-1 in a Jr. Babe Ruth game Wednesday night.
The game was tied at 1 after the first inning, but the Giants added two runs in the second before closing out the scoring with two more in the fourth of a five-inning affair.
Chris "Bucket" Pierce added a 2-for-3 performance for the winners, who got a hit apiece from Brandon Medina, Mike Carpenter and Blake Russell.
Burleson pitched a four-hitter for the victory.
Collecting hits for the Marlins were Justin Conway, Scotty Parlier, Marcus Hill and Josh Hardin.
Hill, a 13-year-old, threw well in defeat.
